Updates
Having been away from Creek stuff for a while, there are both good and bad things to report. Firstly, the good news is that the Faversham Creek Trust is doing a brilliant job. Have a look at their website to catch up and please join them if you haven’t already.
The other news is that Michael White has now published his proposals for Standard Quay. They can be found here: http://favershamcreektrust.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/standard-quay-regeneration-proposals-20mar12.pdf . How you can claim something is regeneration under these circumstances is just too unbelievable for words.
Other news is the so called streetscape proposals, which are being put forward by the Favesham Creek Consortium, which is, unfortunately, the body that appears to have the ear of the planning authorities and is being used to put forward proposals which are ultimately likely to be the death of Faversham Creek as a working waterway with all the associated apparent muddle and character. I can’t find a link to the actual display but it was basically just showing some “poor” surfaces (ie rough ground with puddles) that needed improving and suggesting signage and linking of footpaths. I struggled to see how it was in anyway a basic framework of a plan for the Creek. Unfortunately, however, this is what it is supposed to be. I will post a link if I find one.
All positive news is now on the Creek Trust website! Please join them and make it a force to be reckoned with!
